Cynthia A. "Cyndi" Smolko, age 52, of Denville and Morrisdale, PA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at her home surrounded by family. Her determination and strength were incredible as she courageously fought a five year battle with cancer. Born in Denville in 1957, she was the daughter of John and Gladys (Williams) Smolko. She was a 1975 graduate of Morris Knolls, and attended the CCM Nursing Program where she also served as Captain of the Cheerleading Squad. Cyndi was a Certified Medical Assistant and had worked for several area doctors before becoming a Service Advisor for Reinertsen Motors for 23 years. She enjoyed many athletic activities, and was a pitcher for the Rockaway Twp. Women's Softball League. Cyndi was a fan of Nascar and Tinkerbell, loved the outdoors, LBI, and especially enjoyed gardening and flowers. She had been featured in the Guiness Book of Records for "Brick Carrying", a test of endurance. Most of all, she will be remembered by her many friends and family for her endless generosity to others. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Doreen Caruk and husband Michael of Succasunna, and their daughters Kimberly and Karlie; and Sherry Ostensen and her sons Paul and Jon. of Rockaway Twp; She was Godmother to Jon and Kimberly. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Services will begin Saturday, July 3, at 9:00 am at Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville, for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Denville.
