I have known Charlie since I was 10. Charlie was always the perfect gentleman with a friendly hello and words of encouragement when needed. Charlie, my husband and I skied many a ski slope together. He was our guide to skiing France and Switzerland on our honeymoon. Charlie was a wonderful individual. May God now include him in his Heavenly Kingdom.

We will never forget Uncle Charlie and Dylan posing together because they were twinning! We have never known someone like Uncle Charlie and probably will never get the chance to meet someone else as extraordinary, but we are certain that there is a little part of Charlie in all of us because we knew him and we’re loved by him. His impact on so many will last forever! We were blessed to have had him be with us, and now it’s God’s turn.
With all our love,
Jay, Adriana, Melany, and Dylan

Many thanks to Charlie for introducing me to my future husband Jim Doll after a volley ball game with our ski club friends. Heaven has received the most caring, kind and beautiful human being I have ever known. Thank you Charlie for being our Best Man in 1969. Love always. The Dolls.

Because of Charlie, I was blessed to live on Lenape Island for over 2 decades. On one sunny day he said, “check with the owner of 17 Lenape, she wants to sell”, that started the gift of a lifetime. Charlie always had a smile and hello. His generosity to his community exemplary. His kindness a gift.
Every neighborhood has that special someone, and Charlie was that person. Indian Lake has lost a legend. Rest assured you will never be forgotten. Thanks for the tip Charlie. I will never forget you.
By sincere condolences to the Weldon family and Charlie’s countless friends.

Charlie’s dedication to Indian lake and the members of this community was undeniable. In fact, it was contagious .
I left Charlie a message (not knowing he was in the hospital for over a week) to clarify some facts about the damn construction and a few other items. He wasn’t home 24 hours and he was reaching out to me to help in any way he could. Amazing!
My prayers and condolences to the entire Weldon family.

My first memory of Charlie was watching him ski as I sat on Monkey Island in my cut-offs 20 odd years ago. After seeing me sitting there, he motored on over and asked me if I wanted to ski. After 4 failed attempts to drag a dock-start on his ski, I gave up for the day. Charlie didn't give up on me though and we shared countless mornings skiing on the lake for years after.
Pictures are from August, 2016. (at 81 years old!)

Five years ago, a big winter storm blew a huge branch from my maple tree into the lake. It was impossible to do anything about it until spring, when I was ordered to remove it as a hazard to navigation, but was offered no help. Charlie came to my house on West Shore Road and enthusiastically and physically helped me remove the branch from the lake. That, I learned, was just typical of Charlie. He and his beautiful wife enjoyed meals with us at That's Amore. To say he will be missed is the understatement of all time.
