Me and Perillo we in Wrigley Field. Watching a Cubs game. A foul ball came right to me. I went to catch it and bobbled it. It fell and hit my foot and rolled right to where Parillo was putting down his beers. I said “Give me my ball.” He said “F U. You dropped it!” Classic Parillo
Some funny times I’ll never forget. Laughs that still make me laugh when I think about them.

My memory of my cousin, Steven Parillo. I would like to begin with an old photo album from 1967. In it, I found Steven’s father and mother, who were my Godparents. Soon, a new Parillo family would be born…two wonderful children named Lynette and Steven.
In the late 70’s, special memories will be made each Christmas Eve in a little apartment in Bloomfield, NJ. The big question always, “How did we all fit?” It didn’t matter because on the menu was love and food. For me, it would also include playing with my brother, two sisters, Lynette, and Stevie. Steven’s playful name with me forever. There was one Christmas Eve memory that stands out the most. A photo taken of all six of us playing on my Aunt Rosie’s stairs. Steven was sitting near the top. I wasn't sitting near him but remembering he wasn’t far away, really, and he won’t be far away now from family and friends. As long as we stay connected in play, imagination, and all that life throws our way we will all be okay.
Steven please say hello to your dad, my dad, Grandma and Grandpa Parillo, and your dog Captain. Captain was the great big Doberman who had a home in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. In fact, Doberman’s are very good at (with) their athletic body, are super energetic, and known for their untiring. That dog was a good match for you, Stevie! Thank you for the wonderful childhood memories in New Jersey.
As an adult, my best memory, hands-down, was another Christmas Eve dinner at your sister’s home. I believe the year to be pre-pandemic, 2018, but someone can correct me, if mistaken. By that Christmas Eve dinner, you had already done your battle with cancer. You were on your way navigating your new and different. I really liked that you were there! I felt hopeful and happy to be talking about everything again. “Keep On Keeping On,” dear cousin wherever your spirit takes you.
In love and gratitude,
Janine Burge (Parillo)

Q: Describe where Steven worked and what they did
A: At Telstra, I had always known Steve as our finance guy, the finance guy. Whether his team was based in the US or overseas, you could always go to him with your unusual tax or even legal questions. He was always professional and gave you a straight answer. He was a wealth of knowledge. It was only in the last couple of years, that I got to know him a bit. Fewer people came in due to covid, but Steve was usually in twice a week. He normally ate lunch later than most and had a cafe he frequented. It was Taz Cafe right by the office. I went with him to Taz a couple of times. I was able to convince him to try something different and we got our lunches from the Hanover Deli a few times.
I had learned of his battle with colon cancer. I shared my story with him about my older brother who had been diagnosed with the same thing, but unfortunately it had been stage 4 and there were little doctors could do. I really thought Steve was going to pull through. He looked good. That was the thing with Steve. He didn't show himself when he was sick or weak. I only saw him when he had been well.
Steve is someone I truly admire for his courage, for his professionalism and work ethic, and for his friendship. May you rest in peace. You will be missed...
