Obituary of Richard D. Stover

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard Dennis Stover passed away suddenly in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. He had shared 70 years of wisdom, faith, and fellowship with family and friends.

Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Robert and Beatrice Stover, he was one two children raised in Fairless Hills, PA, to bless their household. After graduating from Pennsbury High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. On October 23, 1974 he married Arlene Podraza and as they say, the rest is history. The newlyweds settled into Morrisville, PA and then Harrison, NJ before finding their forever home in Denville, NJ. Richard had a very successful career beginning as an Actuary, working his way to a Benefits Consultant at Buck Consultants in Secaucus, NJ. When Richard wasn’t hard at work, you could find him watching CNN, Jeopardy, Judge Judy, or Wheel of Fortune. He loved going to the movies and completing logic puzzles, especially if they involved numbers! He was a devoted sports enthusiast that always stayed up to date on the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Villanova Wildcats. Richard was a dedicated and involved member of The Jacksonville Chapel, e3 Partners Ministry and Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). His journey with e3 Partners allowed him to explore the world on mission trips; most notably to Colombia and Romania. Richard was smart, fearless, passionate and most importantly, our rock. Although we are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now safe with the Lord.

He leaves a legacy that will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Arlene; his adored children, Sarah Stover, Matthew Stover and his wife Megan, and Elizabeth Stover and her fiancé Peter Strom; his caring siblings-in-law, Eugene Podraza and Rosemary Johnson and her husband Frank; his dear niece and nephew, Jamie Startzell and Joey Wolf; his loyal pups, Fiona and Cassidy; his loving cat, Rupee; and many more extended family and friends.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 10:00 am at The Chapel, 264 Jacksonville Road, Lincoln Park, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are being accepted in Richard’s memory to either e3 Partners Ministry, by clicking here or Child Evangelism Fellowship, by clicking here. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Richard here to continue to celebrate his incredible life.
