Condolences to the entire Hamilton Family. I remember them from King of Kings Church and the so many kind things the family did.

When I think of Charles, this is the face I’ll always remember. It was taken in 2009 on Long Beach Island. We were waiting outside of one of his favorite restaurants, Howards. My mother Martha and Judy, best friends since childhood, were undoubtedly flitting around nearby. Martha talking about what she wanted to buy at Breezin Up, and Judy playfully whining that she was starving. The restaurant is on the water and the light was particularly beautiful that night. Armed with a new iPhone I said to him, “strike a pose!“ This was the look I got. Handsome, confident, with a grin just about to bubble up because he was about to say something sarcastic. Oh, what fun Charles was. I will miss his wildly quick wit, his generous spirit, and the way he took care of everyone around him. Rest in peace dear Chuck.

Vincent Martorano Legion Post 136 posted a condolence
Sunday, October 31, 2021
It has been almost 16 years since a fire destroyed the home of American Legion Post 136 in Bergen County. As our funds were extremely limited, we struggled to rebuild over more than a ten-year period.
During this difficult rebuilding process, we had met some good guys and some bad guys. Charlie Hamilton, who was President of Northeast Fire Protection, Inc., was one of the good guys.
Spearheaded by the New Jersey Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board, of which he was a member, Charlie stepped forward to take control of installing a sprinkler system after an unlicensed contractor took $20,000 of our mortgaged money and left us high and dry with an incomplete system that failed inspection. Charlie met with the local fire officials, determined what was needed, designed, and supervised the installation of a new state of the art dry sprinkler system that passed local inspection with excellence. All these services were donated without a penny charge to American Legion Post 136. In fact, when advised that special KNOX locks were required for the outside standpipes, Charlie wrote out a personal check for $362.00 to cover the expense of the locks.
Charlie was always there to answer any question during the process and relieved our entire burden associated with retrofitting the fire sprinkler system. His professionalism was beyond reproach, and he was a true gentle man. Through the years, Charlie, and more recently under the direction of his daughter Carrie, Northeast Fire Protection has inspected and serviced the system free of charge. Based on his honorable military service in the Air Force during the Viet Nam era,, I sponsored Charlie into membership in Post 136, and the Post’s Executive Board elected to grant him Honorary Life-time membership.
Two years ago, American Legion Post celebrated its 100th anniversary of service to the Community, State and Nation. We have many friends to thank for achieving this milestone.
We are very much thankful to the members of New Jersey Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board; its Union advisors from Sprinkler Fitters Local 696, and to Charlie Hamilton, for stepping in to help us in our time of extreme need. We are immensely proud to consider the Board, Local 696, and Charlie loyal friends of American Legion Post 136.
Our sincere and deepest condolences are extended to the Hamilton family. You are not alone in your grief.
Rest in peace Charlie. We know if St. Pete ever asks you about installing a fire sprinkler system on the wrong side of the pearly gates, you will step up and volunteer to manage the project.

OH! the stories we could tell! Jerry and Charlie were part of Squad 5 for Blairstown Ambulance Corps. They rode together almost every Friday night. Our daughter "baby sat" (oops was a care giver) for Charlie's daughters. We spent many hours together.
And it was always a good time. We could depend on him to be there if we needed him. Although we have not seen him often in recent years we did think of him and his family. Our condolences go out to all of you. May the memories that you made together give you some comfort during the difficult days ahead. Jerry 'n "Jay" Labar 'n family

Uncle Charlie will be dearly missed. I will miss his annual football season calls to give me grief if the Texas A&M Aggies were losing. If he didn’t call for that reason, he took joy in teasing me as it was “always” raining in Seattle. Rest In Peace. May the memories of your life comfort your family and friends.
