Obituary of Charles L. Hamilton, Jr.

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charles L. Hamilton, Jr. passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Fredon. He had shared 79 years of unconditional love, quick wit, priceless wisdom, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in Jersey City to the late Charles L. Hamilton, Sr. and Eleanor (Bryant), he was one of four children to bless their household. At the age of 10, Charles and his family relocated to Lake Parsippany, where he remained until graduating High School. Charles proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1967. A hard and dedicated worker, Charles founded Northeast Fire Protection, Inc. in Blairstown, which is still in the family today. He found great joy in helping others by serving the community for 20 years on the Volunteer Blairstown Ambulance Corps as an EMT. An avid skier, Charles was a member of National Ski Patrol for over 45 years, most of those years on the Shawnee Mountain Ski Patrol. He loved staying busy and working with his hands. A self-taught carpenter, he physically built two of the homes that he has lived in throughout his life. His hobbies included golfing, deep sea fishing, spending time down the shore, and collecting antique and classic cars. He truly was one of a kind. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his parents, and sisters, Sandra A. Ebert and Nancy M. Diablo.

He leaves a lifetime of joyful memories to his beloved wife and High School sweetheart, Judy Hamilton (Edelhauser) of Hardwick; his adored children, Carrie S. Hamilton and her husband Daniel Kerber of Denville, Lindsay B. Murray and her husband Wayne of St. Petersburg, FL, and their mother, Alyson MacMillan Hamilton; his treasured step-sons, Devin L. Connor and his wife Romela of Budd Lake, and Marcus J. Connor of Antrim, NH; his 2 grandchildren, Madison B. Reed of Aynor, SC and Avery A. Murray of St. Petersburg, FL; his loving brother and best friend, Robert J. Hamilton and his partner Leslie Hurley of Millville; his cherished Aunt Mildred “Millie” Bryant of Lake Parsippany; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Public Visitation will take place on Monday, November 1st from 3 – 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834. Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, November 2nd at the Funeral Home at 10 am. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
