It is with a heavy heart that I write this condolence. My condolences to his family for your loss. When I met my husband in 1977, Smitty and the gang were some of the first people I met here in Denville, and you could always count on them to be there if they were needed. Now they are all together again still watching out for all of us. He is also with his love Maxine again. Have one for all of us, and remember you will always be missed and remembered. May you RIP my friend.

Keith, Jeff & Wendy, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I always enjoyed working with him in the Denville Municipal Building. He was a kind man who always made time for anyone needing his help. May he Rest In Peace and May your happy memories comfort you at this time. Carol Walsh

Don was a great friend and neighbor. He was the reason we became involved with the American Legion. We have many great memories of vacations down the shore, sitting on his patio on the beach having our fish fry’s. Along with many BBQ’s on our deck. But the most memorable time was Christmas Eve at the Wardens enjoying our three levels of eggnog made by Jim Warden. We hope you are enjoying a cold beer and reminiscing with Jim, Rodger and Uncle George.
You will be greatly missed my friend. RIP
Condolences to family and friends.

So sad to learn of my brother in blue and friend's death. As a rookie he was a mentor and example of honest and smart police work. We later became detectives together. We worked closely together night and day on hundreds of cases during those years. We called each other partner. He loved his job, his family, his Denville community, the American Legion, and was a trusted friend to many. We kept in touch up till a few years ago. I'll miss you Smitty. RIP

"Smitty" is one of those fine people I have met in my life who was always quick with a smile and offered unsolicited, sage advice. He was never a gossip or critical of others but a real gentleman. Farewell, LT.

Deepest sympathies. Lt. Smith was a huge part of my law enforcement career. I will never forget sitting in his office as he would offer words of encouragement.

So very sad at the loss of Don. Our families have been good friends for over 50 years. Many fond memories of sharing vacations down the shore, playing cards at my house almost every Saturday night with a few other dear friends and the yearly Christmas Eve nights at my house. So many wonderful times with many laughs. I will treasure them always. Don was a very loyal friend, devoted husband, Dad to his precious 3 children and eventually grandpa to his adoring grandchildren. I will miss him more than words can express. Rest in peace Don with your precious Maxine. My sincerest sympathy to his loving family. Prayers to all.
