Obituary of Angelo J. Mastrolia, Jr.

Angelo J. Mastrolia, Jr. passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Friday, June 18, 2021. He had shared 59 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and amazing memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in Jersey City to the late Angelo and Dorothy Mastrolia, he was one of five children to bless their household. At age 10, Angelo and his family relocated to Carteret where he graduated High School. He then went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Rutgers University. Angelo made a very successful career for himself as a Certified Pubic Accountant, retiring in 2019 as Vice President of Accounting for Selective Insurance after 35 years of dedicated service. He was also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In 1985, Angelo married his best friend and true love, Debra Lynn Lewis. Together they raised two incredible boys; first in Perth Amboy before relocating to their forever home in Budd Lake.

Angelo loved music so much it was in his veins – he was always listening to classic rock, especially his all-time favorite band Led Zeppelin, or playing the guitar while his son Ryan jammed out on the drums - or breaking out the acoustic around a campfire. He also adored animals and always owned cats during his lifetime as well his dog Lady when he was younger. Angelo greatly enjoyed the outdoors - hiking, camping, or just spending time outside and loved the cold winter time, always half-joking about moving to Alaska. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his son, Jason Fuentes, his parents, and sister, Evelyn.

He leaves only joyful memories to his beloved wife of 36 years, Debbie; his treasured son, Ryan (Ashley Davis) Mastrolia; his caring daughter-in-law, Shannon Fuentes; his cherished grandson, Avery Fuentes; his loving siblings, Gloria (Bob) Pitzner, Maryann (the late Kenneth) Zupko, and Joseph (Charlene) Mastrolia; his caring nieces and nephews, Karen (Ralph) Vimbor, Brian and Jesse Zupko, Jeffrey (Amanda) Stich, Kimberly (Jason) Zapata, Dani Curlik, and Marc Mastrolia; his loved great-nieces and great-nephews, Brandon and Ella Vimber, Anderson Stich, and Hunter and Amelia Zapata; and many more extended family and dear friends.
