Obituary of Harriet P. Tomensky

Please share a memory of Harriet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harriet Tomensky, 78, of Denville passed away peacefully to our Lord at home, surrounded by her loving family, on January 17, 2015. Harriet graduated from Somerville High School, earned a BS in Primary Education from Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, and received her Masters Degree in Special Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She was a member of Kappa Delta Phi Sorority in both High School and College. After having taught for 25 years in the Denville Township School System, and being a member of New Jersey Education Association, Denville Education Association, and Morris County Education Association, she retired in 1992. Her life passion was to teach; she also had a knack for remembering people's names forever. She loved to spend her summers with her family at their home in Silver Beach at the Jersey Shore where she was a member of Silver Beach Community, or at home in Indian Lake where she was a member of the Indian Lake Community Club. Predeceased by her parents, Harry and Mary Holden of Bridgewater, Harriet is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Stanley W. Tomensky; her adored son Craig and his wife Carol M. Tomensky and her devoted son Matthew Tomensky and her loving daughter-in-law Carol L. Tomensky; her cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Thomas, Scott, Travis, and Keith; and many other extended family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 21st at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 10 N. Pocono Road, Mountain Lakes. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum, Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to Atlantic Home Care & Hospice, 465 South Street, Morristown, New Jersey 07960. Please also light a candle in her memory at www.normandean.com.
