My thoughts and prayers go out to the O'Neill Family. I was shocked to hear of Billy's passing. I have such fond memories of times spent with Billy at "Pete's," "The Owl Open," or just shooting the breeze at the beach or the ball field. He was funny, smart and had a great sense of humor... He will be missed.

Billy and I shared a love of music,Giants, Yankees. After he moved to D.C. he often wrote me notes about what was happening in the world.
When he was in GP he sometimes would drop by with pizza and beer. He was a gentleman with an edge and my good friend.

I was so deeply sorry to hear of Bill’s death. What a heartbreaking loss for you all.
I have a very fond memory of sharing a wonderful conversation with him long ago at Green Pond, not long after my father died. He lifted my spirits, made me laugh, was so smart and easy to talk. Although I had probably only met ‘Billy’ a few times, he made me feel like an old friend.
My heartfelt sympathy and prayers are with you all.

Bill was always there as a friend, when you desperately needed a good friend. Not one selfish bone in his body. He gave and gave and never expected anything else in return. It has been a while since I had seen Bill, but I know for sure he had not changed. Bill, you will be missed a lot. The world needs a whole lot more people like you out there. Rest in peace good friend, and even though I am not a New Yorker, for you I will say, Go Yankees, Go Giants.

Bill was the first friend I made outside the office when I was a young LA for Congressman Dan Burton in 1987. We were the best of friends during my years in DC. You could not have a more loyal friend than Bill O'Neill and he Blessed my life in so many ways. Even as we did see each other as much after I moved back to Indiana, I knew I could count on Bill and I hope he knew he could count on me. My prayers are with the family and the legion of loyal friends Bill has accumulated over the years. I have never met anyone like Bill and I am so very thankful to have had the privilege. His unique voice could always cut through the noise of a crowded room with a witty comment or a message of good cheer. I will never forget it. Godspeed Bill.
