Edward D. Reynolds of Denville NJ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on September 17, 2014. He was 92 years old. Edward was born in Harlan, Kentucky. He was the youngest of four children. At the age of seven, his family transferred to Pennsylvania, where he attended Upper Darby High School, starring in football, and graduating in 1940. During World War II, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Marines and proudly served his country in the Sixth Division. He saw action in the Pacific including Iwo Jima and China. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad until he relocated to New Jersey, where he worked for Waveline Inc. in Fairfield, NJ until his retirement. A man of many interests, he loved sports, especially football and baseball and of course the Giants and Yankees. He enjoyed sailing on Cedar Lake and gardening in the Denville Community Gardens, as well as playing the organ and drawing and painting. Most of all, Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and he was especially helpful to all of us. He shall be remembered as a genuinely good person, whose quiet dignity and strength of character was an inspiration to us all. He was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy Knott and second wife Anna Pelos; his parents John Henry and Mattie Nancy Reynolds; his brother Dr. John Reynolds; and sisters Susan Reynolds and Mary R. Schleicher of Boonton. He is survived by his nephew John Schleicher and wife Judith of Denville; niece Cheryl Schleicher of Boonton and step daughter Mary Ann Ancona and husband Peter of Randolph; nephews John Reynolds of Virginia, Joseph Reynolds of Florida and niece Susan Reynolds of New York along with many great nieces and nephews.
