Joseph J. Arcoleo Jr. of Denville passed away suddenly on July 18, 2014. Joseph was director of Environmental Health and Safety at Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan having previously worked at Oxford Environmental, ConEdison, and at JCP&L in Morristown NJ.
A graduate of Rutgers University (Bachelors) and NJIT (Masters), Joseph volunteered with the Peace Corps in Honduras where he met the love of his life, Lourdes Arcoleo. They were happily married for 34 years enjoying life to the fullest.
Joseph was an avid tri-athlete who loved any form of a race. He was a volunteer fireman for the Denville Fire Department for 29 years, former captain of the underwater rescue and recovery team, Boy Scout troop leader in Denville and a member of the hazardous material response team in Parsippanny. Joseph is survived by his wife , Lourdes, his son David and daughter-in-law Sarah, daughter, Karen, two grandchildren, Isabella and Maya, his brother John (Diane) Arcoleo, sister Janet (Jeff) Young, numerous lovely nieces and nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He will be most fondly remembered for his limitless generosity towards family, friends, and strangers alike.
Visitation will be Friday, July 25th at Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm. Funeral services will be Saturday at Norman Dean beginning at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Boy Scouts of America Morris Sussex Area Council or Denville Fire Department.
