Obituary of Aaron Charles Kearns
Beloved Husband & Father
Aaron passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. He was the best husband and dad and will be missed always. We will remember all the times we learned and laughed with Aaron and are forever grateful that he was in our lives.
Born in Dover, New Jersey and a lifelong resident of Rockaway Township and Rockaway Borough, he was a Morris Hills High School Class of 1973 graduate. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Montclair State University in 1977. Through many company turnovers, he was employed for over 25 years in the same business and was fulfilled by his work as a Senior Software Engineer which combined his love for puzzles, problem solving, and technology. He was the most loving and supportive father and his daughter, Christine, will remember and cherish all the moments and memories she has with him.
We will remember him by his quick wit, his sense of humor, and his unique way of thinking. He was a gentle, strong, kind, and generous man and life with him was pure joy. Moving forward we will cheer on the Mets for him as he was a self-proclaimed “long suffering Mets fan”. At family gatherings, we will remember the love he had for us and the jokes and puns he told that made everyone laugh (and maybe groan on some occasions). Life without him is a great loss but the pain is worth every second that we got to spend with him.
We are all better people for knowing and loving Aaron.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, of 32 years; daughter Christine Kearns; father James Kearns; siblings David, Diane, Mark (Jean) and Lisa Tobin (James), and; brother-in-law Dr. Bryan Jon Miller (Kristi); sisters-in-law Betty Miller Wise (Thomas) and Bonnie Jean Kennedy (Charles); nieces and nephews Conor, Haley and Kate Kearns and Gary Wise, Benjamin (Lynn), Nicholas and Annie Miller; his lifelong friends Paul Montney and Ron Isherwood; and many more dear friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his mother, Betty Kearns, his father-in-law, Jason Miller and mother-in-law, Helena Miller.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 2pm- 5pm. There will be a time for sharing of memories that will begin at 4:30 that afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate in his memory to Cancer Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering or a charity of your choice.
