Obituary of Michael J. Sherwood

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michael J. Sherwood, of Rockaway Township, passed away suddenly in the comfort of his home on Sunday, September 15, 2019. He was 48 years young.

Born in Denville, Michael was raised in Rockaway Township by his loving parents, Gary Sherwood and Joan Restivo. After graduating from Morris Catholic High School, he found his passion in the landscaping and lawncare industry. After many years of hard work, he started his own company titled Sherwood Landscaping which he has owned and operated for the last 20 years. Michael’s true devotion was to his dogs, Harley and Mr. Deeters, and to his beloved automobiles. He loved to restore old cars and display them at car shows, especially at Dead Man’s Curve, LLC. He was an avid Giants and Mets fan and truly enjoyed playing golf. Although he was taken too soon from this world, we take comfort in knowing we have a guardian angel looking out for us from above.

He leaves only joyful memories to his treasured parents, Joan Sherwood and Gary Sherwood and his companion Jean Scapicchino; his caring aunts and uncles, Nina Parris, Geraldine Restivo, Patricia Whitley, Marguerite Reiter and her husband Alan, Daniel Sherwood, and Joseph Sandillo; his cherished cousins, Scott Parris and Lisa Parris; and many more cousins, extended family, and friends.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21st from 1 – 5 pm with Funeral Service beginning at 4:00 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Michael’s memory to Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary, Attn: Kelly, 52 County Rd 661, Newton, NJ 07860. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Michael with his family.
