Alice was born in Jersey City and married Lawrence Casey in 1960. They moved to Denville in 1964 where they raised their two children, Lawrence Peter and Maryann. While she lived in Jersey City, Alice worked at the Macmillan Publishing Company and then at the Lutheran Church of America. Alice retired to raise her children and become a full time Mom.
In early years, Larry, Alice and their children spent many happy times camping throughout New England and Virginia visiting historic places and enjoying the seaside and woods. She and Larry kept a garden at Denville Gardens for 19 years growing vegetables, raspberries, and flowers.
In later years, she worked as an Accountant for the Morris Hills Regional District for 11 years, officially retiring in 1991. Alice was active as a Girl Scout Leader, PTA Officer, president of Lakeland AARP, and president of the Denville Seniors. She was an active member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Mountain Lakes and a Council member for many years. Alice received the award of “Living Treasure of Morris County” in May of 2014 as a person sharing her talents and skills to serve others. She was a caring individual who showed her compassion, honesty, and kindness and has made a difference in her community. The award is given by the Board of Chosen Freeholders yearly.
Once retired, Larry and Alice traveled to many countries and throughout the United States. Their favorite place to visit was Europe as they traveled extensively there. Alice greatly enjoyed her life and was always willing to work with people to improve conditions and give happiness to others. She will be sorely missed and forever treasured in our hearts and memories.
Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Alice here with her family.
