Obituary of Donald W. Betz
Donald W. Betz, of Denville, formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children on Thursday, August 1, 2019 in the comfort of his home. He was 75 years young.
Born in Newark to the late William Betz and Alice Massey, he was one of three children raised in North Arlington, New Jersey. He graduated from North Arlington High School class of 1961. In 1965 he graduated from University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor’s Degree. Donald was a very smart man and hard worker. He had a successful career in the construction industry, retiring from J.F. Kiely Construction in Wall Township as the Marketing Director. Above everything else, he was a father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved spending as much time as possible with his family, especially his grandchildren. Donald loved being on the water, on one of his many boats, with a fishing pole in hand. He also spent much of his time at the shore working on all of his projects. We will never forget his sense of humor, great negotiation skills, and most importantly, the unconditional love he gave to us all.
He leaves only joyful memories to his loving children, Natalie Betz and her husband Agostinho Rodrigues and William Betz and his wife Binh Nguyen and their mom, Olga Betz; his adored grandson, Ayden Betz; his cherished step-grandchildren, Alyssa Rodrigues, Agostinho Rodrigues, Jr., and Antonio Rodrigues; his caring siblings, Leonard Betz and his wife Beverly and sister, Jane Lamberson; and his dear niece and nephew, Michele Betz and Brian Betz.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 7th at 10 am at the St. Francis Chapel, Our Lady of Sorrows Convent, 9 Pocono Road, Denville, NJ. Burial will follow at Rockaway Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 35 Church Street, Rockaway, NJ. Public Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 6th from 4 - 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. Charitable donations can be made in lieu of flowers to St. Francis Residential Community by way of www.inmemof.org. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share a special memory of Donald with his family.
