Obituary of David K. Faircloth

David K. Faircloth, of Rockaway Township, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville. He was 65 years young.

Born and raised in Washington, D.C. to the late Harris and Jean Faircloth, David was the youngest of two boys. He truly broke the mold when he was born. Kind, helpful, caring, courteous, compassionate, devoted, funny – those are the attributes that can be mentioned when talking about David. He met his soulmate, Christeen Gilbert, while working for Woodward & Lothrop; they married in 1986. Together they made Northern Virginia their home and started their beautiful family before finding their forever home in Rockaway. David was currently working as the COO for Poof Apparel Incorporated in NYC. His entire life, he loved anything to do with basketball or classic rock music – whether watching or playing. He also had a soft spot in his heart for anything furry with four legs and even three; he was an amazing foster grandpa to many animals.  Endearingly nicknamed “Captain” David was the true patriarch of our family. Above anything else, his family was the utmost important thing in his life.

The sun rose and set on his beloved wife of 33 years, Christeen; his treasured daughter, Kellie Weinmann; his adored son-in-law, Brandon Weinmann; his loving brother, Dr. Richard Faircloth; and his cherished furry kids, Sulley and Boo and grandpup, Reagan. He couldn’t have been more proud of his family and he protected them, boasted about them, and loved them fiercely. We are devastated that he was taken too soon from us, yet we take comfort in knowing we have the greatest guardian angel watching over us.

Reflection from David's brother

David Kelly Faircloth, my brother, my friend.  I was 7 years older and I remember the day he came home from the hospital and I was so proud that I had a baby brother.  I had gone to school before he was born and had announced in “show and tell” that “we were having a baby.”  I was so proud of his professional accomplishments and he of my academic.  We had a sibling rivalry that persisted for most of our lives but we loved each other deeply.  With the invention of texting we could stay in touch daily.  I always looked forward to know that he was on the train to Manhattan in the morning and to his evening updates on how late the train would be.  If he forgot his phone he would call Chris from the office and tell her to text or call me to let me know he was OK.  The last long conversation was about two weeks ago when he gave me advice in nauseating detail of the advantages of leasing versus buying my next car.   He loved deeply his Christeen, Kellie and Brandon.  He was so pleased to have Brandon as his son in law.  His in laws, Joan and Bill, were like parents.  He adored them.  He always referred to my Alan as his favorite brother in law.  My brother will be missed by so many family and friends but he has left us with many wonderful memories, Love you David, Text me in the morning.  Love, Richard
