We feel very sad not seeing Dick in the neighborhood anymore. To us, his life was part of the Lake Arrowhead's history, and Lake Arrowhead had been part of his life. Our kids were growing up with holiday activities, like tug-a-war, racing track, etc., led by Nancy Draper. Having conversations with Dick was always enjoyable. His gentle approach, interesting stories, knowledge in various subjects, and love given to the community had made all of us believe living in this neighborhood is wonderful. God bless the Draper family!

I am lucky to be living in Dick's house on Lakewood Drive and having the advantages of his renovations. I once had t breakfast with him at Paul's diner and learned that he was a man of many talents and an inconceivable amount of knowledge about a wide range of subjects. I wish him peace.

As a member of the Lake Arrowhead community, I had the chance to meet and get to know Dick over the past six or so years. He shared many stories about his experiences in live, time in Michigan, working at Bell Labs, his life in Denville, and stories about his family. While our journeys through life were separated by many generations in time, we always seemed to connect well and tended to look for one other to catch up at community events. I'll miss having Dick in our community and am truly grateful that our paths had the opportunity to cross.
My sincerest condolences to the Draper family. Dick, may you rest in peace.

From all of us at the Canal Society of New Jersey, we offers our condolences to Dick's family and friends.
Dick served on the Canal Society's of New Jersey's Board of Director's for more than a dozen years, where his contributions were many. However, his biggest contribution to the Canal Society was the development of our canal boat, 'The Canal Explorer'.
For many years, the Canal Society had dreamed of having a canal boat that could be used to provide the public with rides along the Morris Canal. Dick volunteered to head a committee dedicated to restoring a donated pontoon boat to working order in order for us to realize this dream. Today, the Canal Explorer delights passengers of all ages as they travel along the watered sections of the Morris Canal at Wharton Canal Day, and on a regular basis at Waterloo Village. This accomplishment would only have been possible through the dedication and hard work of Mr. Draper, and it earned him the coveted title of 'Captain Dick'.

Easily the smartest of all of my uncles, his constant advice helped me finish my Ph.D and I will forever be grateful to him. Although our paths never crossed often, it was always good to pick up with Uncle Dick whenever we connected. I especially remember him telling me, "If you start a book and don't like it after the first two chapters, put it away and get another one. Life's too short to read bad books."
It was him who turned me on to audiobooks during my work commutes and he would tell me that he and Aunt Joyce would sit in the driveway listening to a good book until the chapter ended because they didn't want to get out of the car.
Thank you for the time and a life well lived.

Richard was all of the accolades listed in his obituary. Richard was also my
brother-in-law. We shared nearly 64 years in that relationship. If you needed
something, you always knew you could call on Rich. I share many good memories with his family. May the immediate family continue to grow together and have
wonderful memories of yesterday when they are apart fulfilling their lives.
My prayers are with you all.
