Obituary of Judith Criaris

Judy Criaris, Rockaway

Judith M. Criaris, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 3^rd.  She blessed her family with 82 years of love and faith.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 8^th at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Denville.  Entombment to follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover.  Friends and relatives and may visit on Sunday, April 7^th from 2-6 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Donations in her name may be made to the good work of the Alzheimers Association or the Nutley Family Service Bureau by way of www.inmemof.org. 

Judy was born in 1936 in Staten Island to the late Elizabeth and Herbert Buchanan.  After her schooling, she met Evangelos “Cris” Criaris on a blind date.  After a few years they married, eventually settling in Rockaway to raise their family.  Judy worked in the insurance business for many years.  After retirement, Judy spent lots of her time with her grandchildren.  She adored them and loved watching them grow.  She donated much time as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Marys and was active with the Sisters of Pauline.   She enjoyed trips to the casino, crocheting and watching her Westerns.  Although we are saddened by her passing we take comfort in knowing she is at peace.

She leaves beautiful memories to her husband Cris of 59 years; her children Elizabeth “Betty” Gallagher (Robert) and Christopher Criaris (Karen); her grandchildren Victoria, Ashleigh, Patrick and Michelle Gallagher and Andrew and Adam Criaris; her brother Charles Buchanan and many more dear relatives and friends.  Her brother Herbert passed previously.
