Obituary of Dennis G. Florance

Dennis G. Florance, 61, passed away with his loving family by his side on Sunday April 6, 2014. Dennis was born in Paterson, NJ he was a resident of Lyndhurst, Lincoln Park, and Bloomingdale before moving to Rockaway Borough in 1986. He received his Bachelor Degree in American Literature at Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ. Dennis was a Carpenter. He owned and operated the Florance Construction Company for over 30 years. A carpenter by trade, he worked in and around the Rockaway area, building additions and doing home remodeling projects. He loved to spend time with his family and friends at Point Sebago, Maine, and Long Beach Island, NJ. Dennis enjoyed building sets for the school plays at St. Cecilia's School and Morris Catholic High School. He enjoyed wood working and building furniture, as well as music, hiking, kayaking, and bike riding. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Karen (nee McDermott) Florance and his devoted children Gregory and Rachel Florance, his brother James Florance and his wife Barbara, and his sister Sandra Florance. He was loved by his extended family James and Patricia McDermott, Kevin and Barbara McDermott, John and Patricia McDermott, George McDermott and niece and nephews, Jennifer, Brett, Ross, Stephen, Colin, Kevin, and Daniel. His funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Service 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please share a memory of Dennis on our website), on Thursday April 10th at 8:30 am for a 10am Mass of Christian Burial service at Mt. Carmel of Notre Dame Parish, 75 Ridgedale Ave., Cedar Knolls, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday April 9th tom 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers, donations will be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN.
