Obituary of Anne P. McDonald
"You can always tell where a beautiful soul has been by the tears and the smiles left behind."
Anne (nee Struble) McDonald
Anne P. McDonald, passed peacefully on Friday, December 28th. She was at home and had just celebrated a beautiful Christmas with her family. She shared 78 years of love and faith with all who knew her. Friends and relatives may visit on Thursday, January 3rd from 4-7 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave. Denville. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 4th at 11 am at the Denville Community Church. Interment to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to the good work of American Cancer Society by way of www.inmemof.org
Born in Dover, Anne was one of three Struble children. Her family had a long history in town and her Dad served as Deputy Chief of the Rockaway Township PD. After her schooling, she started her family, raising two daughters. In February of 1972 she married the love of her life, Gerald McDonald. With the family blending, she now had six beautiful children to love! As military families do, they moved often. They were lucky to spend time in NJ, Germany, California, Mass, and RI to name a few. Anne never complained. She enjoyed the adventure and loved the new landscapes which she was able to share with her family. She was an amazing Mom; always putting the needs of the kids first. She was the best Grandma ever. She was a doting wife and she adored her Jerry.
Anne was a longtime member of Denville Community Church and had a deep faith. She was crafty, always making gifts for family and friends. She was social. She belonged to the wives Club at Picatinny, and was a longtime member of the Red Hatters. For many years she and her husband headed up the Christmas party for the children at Picatinny and the VFW. She loved donating her time; especially for the children.
Anne has fought a good fight these past few years. She was a bright light in the room each and every time she showed up for treatments. Her eyes always sparkled and her kindness never faded. Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace and watching over her family with love and pride.
Predeceased by her brothers William and James; she leaves only happy memories to her family; husband Gerald of 48 years; children Marlene Halcott (Bill), Linda Maza, Rhonda Alexander (Bill), Bradford McDonald (Belinda), Kathleen McDonald and Maureen Littell (Gary); her eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many more dear relatives; friends and acquaintances.
