Obituary of Julie Tappen
Julie Tappen, of Toms River, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 15, 2018. She was 76 years young.
Born in Manhattan to the late Joseph and Mary Kratzel, she was raised in the five boroughs of New York City. She graduated High School in the Bronx. Julie settled down in Denville to raise her family. She made a successful career for herself as a Respiratory Therapist, starting out at Morristown Medical Center before spending over 20 years working for Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville, retiring at age 62. After retirement, Julie relocated to Toms River.
She loved to visit the beach and often went crabbing and fishing there. She also enjoyed gardening, photography and animals. Julie was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. It made her so happy to be able to help people in any and every way that she could. She will be sorely missed and always remembered.
Predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Johnston, she leaves only joyful memories to her loving children, Bill Search and his wife Elena, Joseph Search, Holly Tappen, and Charles Tappen and his wife Sharon; her cherished grandchildren, Nicole Johnston, Gabriella Tappen, and Chuckie Tappen; her caring brothers, Joseph and John Kratzel; and many other extended family and friends.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 15th at 2:30 pm at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Ave., Denville, NJ. Memorial Donations are being accepted to Final Hope Animal Rescue, Attn: Deana, 6 Congress Street, Jersey City, NJ 07307. Please leave a condolence and special memory for her family.
