Betty J. Humphreys, age 88, of Parsippany passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Merry Heart Health Care Center in Succasunna. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Curch of Mt. Tabor. Memorial Service will be held on May 11, 2019 at 3 pm at United Methodist Church of Mt. Tabor, 5 Simpson Ave, Mount Tabor, NJ 07878. Burial of ashes will be held privately at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.

Betty was born August 11, 1930 in Livingston to the late Everett Theiss and Ida Weimer Theiss, she is predeceased by her only sibling, Marian Smith. She graduated from Caldwell High School, married Theodore Humphreys, and moved to Parsippany where she raised their five children. 

Betty worked as an office manager for Electrolux in Mt. Tabor for many years, and retired from AT&T in Bedminister as an Executive Secretary. Betty was an active member of the community serving on the Mt. Tabor elementary school PTA, and as a Cub Scout Den Leader, and in her retirement she was the president of the Parsippany Senior Club. She was also a fun loving member of the Red Hat Society. Betty enjoyed many years of travel to Europe, the Caribbean, and throughout the U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska where she kayaked with whales. Betty enjoyed jazz music, reading and needlework.

Betty will be remembered by her easy going, loving spirit and as a sweet, compassionate and giving woman with a heart of gold who loved visiting her children and grandchildren. 

Betty is predeceased by her adoring son-in-law George Kugel, left to continue her legacy are her beloved children, Raymond “Ray” Humphreys and his wife Lora of Queensbury, NY, Gary Humphreys and his wife Susan of Palmetto, Florida, Bobbie Humphreys and her significant other, Pete Ezzi of Parsippany, Patti Kugel of Lake Hopatcong, and Diane “DeeDee” Whitten of Schuylerville, NY; her cherished grandchildren, Gary Humphreys, Jr. and his wife Eileen, Faith Jacco and her husband Paul, John Humphreys and his wife Sarah, James Humphreys and his wife Christina, Kathryn Rath and her husband John, and Braden Whitten; her 10 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends.
