Obituary of June Hurst
June Hurst, of Boonton, formerly of Brick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. She was 77 years young.
Born and raised in Monmouth County to the late George Manger and Margaret Lockner, June was one of two children. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Trenton State College. In 1965, she settled down in Brick and shortly after started a family of her own. June was an intelligent, feisty, hardworking and independent woman. For many years she worked as a Speech and Language Pathologist in Brick Township Public Schools – even after retirement, she continued to teach and help kids with their language skills. While working as a teacher and raising a family, June owned and operated her own Flower Shop for many years. She loved working with flowers and often taught classes on how to arrange elegant holiday and special occasion centerpieces. She was a proud and active member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Toms River. There she attended Bible Study every week and helped organize the Holiday Bazaar every year.
June enjoyed many things including gardening, reading, and crafts, with a passion for creating stained glass. She was an avid reader… passing on her love of literature to many of her grandchildren. Although she was taken from this world at the young age of 77, she lived a rich life filled with love and family and friends. As a member of Granny’s On The Go she experienced many traveling adventures. One of June’s biggest joys in her life was her family. She adored spending time with them and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. June has left us with a legacy of love, laughter, compassion, and devotion that will remain in our hearts for an eternity.
Left to continue her legacy are her beloved children, Laura Sudak and her wife Danielle of Denville and Andrew Hurst and his wife Diana of Virginia; her cherished grandchildren, Allison Lowe, Catherine Lowe, Parker Sudak, Emma Hurst, John Hurst, Henry Hurst, and Maxine Singdahlsen; and her caring brother, Michael Manger and his wife Nataliya.
Public Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18th from 4 - 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 19th at 10 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rockaway Valley Cemetery, Boonton, NJ. Memorial Donations are being accepted by way of inmemof.org/June-Hurst to Heifer International or St. Andrew's Church. Please leave a condolence and special memory for her family.
