Annelise Modafferi, 80, Long Valley

“She always found kindness and the best in everyone, even if they couldn’t find it within themselves.”

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Annelise Modafferi.  Please continue to keep Annelise and her family in your prayers.

Annelise Modafferi passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.  She shared 80 years of love and Norweigan pride with her family and friends.  At her request, a private family wake was held at Norman Dean Funeral Home on October 4, 2018 and a memorial service is being planned for the future.

Annelise was born in Oslo, Norway and lived in Kritians Norway with her older brother Fredrik and her parents the late Helge and Lillemor Westby.   As a young lady she immigrated to the US and settled in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, New York.   A few years later, she started her family, raising four children, whom she was so proud of.  She worked hard as a school bus driver in Jefferson for almost 30 years, then Beam Bus for 3 years.  She enjoyed both jobs and loved to see the children each day.  As the years went on, Annelise was promoted to Bestemor (Grandmother in Norweigan) and this was the crown that she loved to wear and was proud to wear!  She was the proud Bestemor to Christa Modafferi, Mark Ulrich, Catherine Riker-Modafferi, Jessica Modafferi, Danielle Modafferi, Anthony W. Modafferi, Michael C. Calone, Steven Leong, Arturo Gonzalez and Brett Hinman.  She was the Great Betsemor to Roger DeGroaty, Frankie (her Dominic) DeGroat, Ava Dilzer and Michael Joseph Calone.

Predeceased by her sons Frederick and Vincent; she leaves a lifetime of beautiful memories to her son Joseph and daughter Anna-Lesa; her daughter in law Vicky Modafferi; all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many more dear relatives, friends and acquaintances in both the United Ststaes and Norway.
