Obituary of Eugene J. Barkocy
Eugene Barkocy passed at home on Sunday, September 2, 2018. He shared 83 years of love and faith with his family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 6th at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Denville. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 5th from 4-8 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. Flowers are lovely, but those who wish may make a donation in his name to the good work of the American Diabetes Association by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
Born in 1934 to the late Michael and Mary Barkocy, Gene was the eighth baby to bless this family. After HS he studied at the Univ. of Richmond, graduating in 1959. Shortly after, he was drafted into the US Army, proudly serving his country. In 1969 he met Marguerite Bertoni and after a whirlwind romance, they married and started a family of their own. They raised five sons and operated a successful roofing company, Barkocy Brothers. Gene was a hard worker, and provided a beautiful life for his family. Even on weekends, he would be out working a job. He was an honest businessman, a proud father and a prouder Grandpa, bragging to anyone who would listen about the kids. We are saddened by his passing but take comfort in knowing he is at peace and watching over his family with love.
Predeceased by seven of his siblings, he leaves happy memories to his loving wife Marge; his sons Jonathan (Kelley), Christopher (Shannon), Jon “JP”, Thomas (Emily), Bruce (Andreea Burlacu) and David (Isabella); his daughter Muffy Barkocy; his adored grandchildren; his sisters Helen and Sylvia and many more dear friends and relatives.
