Obituary of Wilhelmina Pieper

Please share a memory of Wilhelmina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

After a lifetime of caring for others, countless acts of kindness, and devotion to family, friends, and God, Wilhelmina Pieper has gone to rest in the arms of the Lord.  Born in Queens, New York, to Jacob and Claudean Schweizer on March 6, 1927, Mina took her place as the youngest of 3 sisters.  She worked at Durkees after graduating from high school, and at the age of 19 was swept off her feet by the love of her life, Paul Pieper.  It was a love affair that lasted 58 years and held true to the vow of “til death do us part.”    Mina and Paul made Rock Ridge Lake in Denville, New Jersey, their permanent home, a perfect place to raise their family.  Mina enjoyed being a stay-at-home Mother while her children were young.  She would later work as a clerk for Advanced Pressure Castings, The Hearthstone Motor Lodge, and the Denville Tax Assessor’s Office.

Mina enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and Bingo.  She was an active member of United Methodist Women, Denville Seniors, and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.  Her family and close friends were the fortunate beneficiaries of her good cooking, excellent cocktails, extreme generosity, and strong opinions.

Mina is survived by her beloved son Paul E. Pieper of Denville and daughter Linda Gronlund (Glenn) of Absecon.  Also surviving are her four beloved grandchildren:  Lindsey Burwell (Fred), Stephanie White (her late husband Chad), Courtney Michnewicz (Dave), and Jonathan Gronlund, and the 7 joys of her later life, her great-grandchildren:  Adellyn, Sydney, Alexis, Tessa, Hadley, Henry, and Cassidy. Her husband Paul F. Pieper and her sisters Jean Robinson and Frances Fischer passed previously.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 6th at 11am at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville.  Friends and relatives may visit on Sunday, August 5th from 2-5 pm.  Donations in her name may be made to the good work of The Denville VFW Ladies Auxilliary, 71 Ford Rd., Denville, NJ 07834.
