Obituary of Cynthia Di Giovanna

Please share a memory of Cynthia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Grieve not…

nor speak of me with tears…

but laugh and talk of me…

as though I were beside you.

I loved you so…

‘twas Heaven here with you.

Cynthia Lorraine Di Giovanna (nee Murren) of Rockaway NJ, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 22, 2018.  She shared 53 years of love and friendship with all who knew her.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 28th at 10 am at Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament, Roseland, NJ.  Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover. Friends and relatives may visit on Friday, July 27th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A Prayer Service with the Knights Of Columbus will take place at 7 pm that evening.  In lieu of flowers please donate to either the Disabled American Veterans or Eleventh Hour Rescue.

Please share your memories here.  Her family will cherish them forever.

Cindy grew up in Roseland, NJ, graduated from West Essex HS and achieved her BA and Masters in Psychology and Elementary Education. She began her professional career teaching at Saint Michael's Schooll in Newark before moving on to teach in Irvington and finally settling in the West Orange School System.  She taught mathematics at the middle school and elementary school level.  Throughout the years she received numerous accolades and awards for her teaching excellence and held the position of team leader among her peers.  She always took great pride in helping her students to excel.

Cindy enjoyed a life full of friends, family and get-togethers.  She loved traveling and cruising.  She visited exotic places and enjoyed spending time entertaining at her family’s vacation houses in Ocean Beach, NJ and near Mount Snow, in Vermont.   She was a dedicated Miami Dolphin fan, always keeping faith in the team and traveling most Sundays to watch the games with her friends and fellow fans at their longtime gathering place.

Cindy loved shopping.  She regularly indulged her nieces with outings and enjoyed surprising people with gifts and mementos.  She truly was the best Aunt in the world.  She was over the moon for her ten nieces and nephews and could often be found cheering them on at their sporting events or just being with them.  She bragged of them often and loved each one dearly.

Cindy was hysterically funny.  She was witty and very creative.  If you were fortunate enough to be on her Christmas card list, you were fortunate enough.  She was optimistic and truly enjoyed life.  Some of her guilty pleasures included reality TV and jeopardy.  She also loved fireworks.  They shined bright and were beautiful….just like our Cindy.

Although she was taken from us too soon, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace and is re united with her beloved Mother Lorrie, Father Gene and her dear friends Marci, Kirt, Delmus and other loving family members who predeceased her.

She leaves happy memories to her husband David Di Giovanna; her brother Andy Murren (Lea) and her sister Sharon Pezzuti (Anthony); her beloved nieces and nephews Andrew and Ian Murren, Stephanie Pezzuti, Sabrina and Jared Pelech, Austin and Monica Morris, Christopher, and Anthony and Caroline Colucci.  She will be deeply missed by all of her in laws and extended family members.
