Obituary of Charles John DeMartino
Charles John DeMartino passed away at his home in Denville, NJ with his family by his side. He had a full 87 years of life. He leaves many memories for family and friends to treasure forever.
Charles was born in Manhattan, NY to Ciro and AsuntaDeMartino and raised in Union City, NJ. He was the youngest of 5 children. After High School he decided to support our country by joining the United States Navy. He served during the Korean War from 1951-1955 on the U.S.S. ROSS. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. As long as Charles was outdoors, he was happy. He enjoyed following the NY Yankees. He raised his children in Bloomingdale before moving to Ortley Beach, NJ. Charles retired in 1992 as maintenance supervisor from Bendix/Allied Signal in Teterboro. He also belonged to the Rainbow Lakes Community Club for 10 years. Above all, family came first. He was an amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
To keep his legacy alive are his beloved children, Vincent Charles DeMartino (Jane) and Michele Marie DeMartino(Carolyn); adored grandchildren Kayla (Ben) and Charlie (Aubryann); cherished great-grandchildren Molly and Elise, as well as extended family and friends. He also leaves behind his cherished 4 legged companions, Niko and Lola.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A Mass will be at St. Mary’s R.C. Church on July 2 at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations are being made in Charles honor to the Wounded Warriors and Boys Club of America by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Please leave a condolence or share a memory with the family.
