Tom,
Ten years ago my father relocated to Rainbow Lakes to be close to me. When I first introduced my Dad to your dad he invited us on to his dock for a glass of wine. They shared War stories and ever since would salute each other when they crossed paths in our community. Uncle Phil, as I called him was a great man and neighbor and just like my father a proud patriot. Unfortunately, my father passed away 3 weeks after your father. May they both rest in peach and watch over us.

Tom,
Your Dad was a great man. I had the opportunity to treat him many time over the last 20+ years. We shared many stories over the years. Smith Mountain Lake was one of our favorite topics. My family vacations there every July. I will sure miss out chats.
Thank you for sharing him with me.

Phil was our family friend for 27 years. My Daughters looked at him as a "surrogate Grandpa". He was at all our family gatherings and we have numerous photos of him with all of us. I cannot even imagine Rainbow lakes without him. He was a special person in so many ways and touched our lives very deeply. He will be missed by all of us in Rainbow Lakes that knew him. . .

Phil will certainly be missed by those of us in the neighborhood. I last saw him on Monday when I brought him some soup. He offered to make me a Manhattan, but I had a glass of wine with him instead. I should have taken him up on his offer! Love to the family, Lynn Persson

Phil is a dear friend and a terrific neighbor. I always enjoyed our time together chatting on his front porch or hanging out with him on the dock. I greatly miss him. He was a huge influence on me and my kids for many many years. My deepest condolences to Tom and his family.
