Obituary of Robert Paul McCloskey

Robert Paul McCloskey passed away on March 27th, 2018, at the age of 85.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, he has been a longtime resident of Denville, NJ since 1959.
Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He then attended college at St. Peters in Jersey City, NJ. In addition to his service to his country, he also served his community in a variety of roles, including a stint as a Town Committeeman and as both Fire and Police Commissioner. He loved family life and was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and canoeing on the lake he built with his sons.
Robert was Owner and President of E.J. Stewart Electric and was a noted builder and developer.
He is predeceased by his daughter Mary Beth Blom and his son James McCloskey.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Florence J. (Trainor) McCloskey of Denville. He is also survived by his loving children Robert McCloskey of Denville, Ann Brown of Newtown, CT, and Kate Erdmann of Bryant, AR. A loving grandfather, he is also survived by his 11grandchildren. James Patrick, Rory, Kara, Ian, Kaia, Hailey, Conor, Lara, Holt, Eric and Mark.
A memorial visitation will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com on Tuesday April 3, 2018, from 8:30AM to 9:30AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Mass at St. Mary's Church in Denville at 10:00AM.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
