Obituary of Angelo George
Please share a memory of Angelo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Angelo George passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Born in Boston, MA, he was a proud resident of Mountain Lakes, NJ where he lived for 50 years.
He was raised and educated in Boston, MA where he attended the oldest high school in the country, Boston English. He realized the importance of serving his country and enlisted in the Army during WWII and served a second term during the Korean War. Immediately upon his return, Angelo attended Northeastern University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Hired as a chemical engineer at the E.I. duPont de Nemours Corporation in Wilmington, DE, he began in the Research Department where he developed a patent. His career eventually led him to New York City where he eventually became the Regional Sales Director for many years. By 1971, Angelo achieved his life-long career dream by founding his company, Engineered Security Systems, Inc., which remained under his leadership for 30 years. Upon transferring the company presidency to his only son, he continued as a consultant. With a passion for the stock market, at the age of 78, he passed the Series 7 Exam to become a Licensed Financial Planner with Edward Jones until retirement. Joining in 1966, Angelo has been one of the oldest members of The Rockaway River Country Club and has enjoyed many years playing golf with his wife, family, and friends. As a devoted citizen, he has also enjoyed being a member of The Mountain Lakes/Boonton Rotary Club. He loved the phrase "Carpe Diem" and it was evident in the way he lived, especially at age 82 when he became a member of the Skydiving Club, Jumpers Over Eighty. He will be missed by many and remembered for his bow tie, chivalry, and love for his bride.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Laurice R. (Eddy) George, and his four children Duana M. George (Guy D. Pistilli) of Haddonfield, NJ, Valeri (William) Work of Fleming Island, FL, David (Marlis) George of Mountain Lakes, NJ, and Roberta George-Matalon of Mountain Lakes, NJ. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
The services in honor of Angelo will begin at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ 07834, with a visitation from 4 to 8 pm on Friday March 23. A funeral service will be given at St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church, on March 24 at 12 noon, followed by the internment at Greenwood Cemetery, Boonton, NJ. Donations can be made in his honor to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Please share a memory at: www.normandean.com.
