Obituary of Marion V. Marinaro

Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marion V. Marinaro.  Please continue to keep Marion and her family in your prayers.

Marion V. Marinaro passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 2, 2018. She shared 93 years of love and joy with all who knew her.

Marion was born December 11, 1924 in Passaic, New Jersey the daughter of the late Rocco and Jennie (Santora) Verniero.  After her schooling, she worked as a dental hygienist.  Marion fell in love with a local boy, the late Dominick S. Marinaro.  Marion and Dominick married and started their life together.  Dominick’s job took the family to Texas, Oklahoma, California, Long Island, and eventually back to New Jersey with their two young daughters.

Marion was a devoted Mother, tenderheartedly teaching the values of love, family, faith to her daughters. She enjoyed cooking, decorating, antiquing, painting, music, dancing, reading, and writing.  Marion had a beautiful flare for fashion and took pride in dressing “to the nines.”  Marion’s favorite holiday was Christmas…specifically, Christmas Eve.  She took much joy in celebrating honored traditions with her family. Marion was known for her delicious and signature dishes and one would always leave her home happy and satisfied.

Marion’s smile, laugh, giggles, kisses, and huge embracing hugs were truly priceless and a gift she shared from her heart and spirit with so many.  Above everything in this world, it was her family that was her greatest pride and accomplishment.  Marion was affectionately known as “Miss Hollywood” to many but her best titles were those of Mom, Nonnie and Nonnie Grande.  She loved being Nonnie to her adoring grandchildren and grandpups!  Marion was over the moon to be crowned “Nonnie Grande” when her great grandson, Logan David, was born and blessed this family!

Predeceased by her sisters Anita Cosgrove and Gloria Gallo; she leaves loving and beautiful memories to her daughters Donna M. Welhorsky and her husband Mark and Joan M. Doomany and her husband Charles G. who was always a "loving son" to Marion; her grandchildren Danielle M. Liebmann (Wulf), Jacquelyn M. Scherr (Matthew), Hunter O. Jambor and Charles Michael Doomany; her great grandsonLogan David Scherr; her loving caregiver Aida and many more dear relatives, friends and caregivers.

Marion’s love and joyous memory will continue to shine on and bless us all.  We take comfort in knowing that she has joined her sweetheart again and her beloved family and friends.  We believe that Marion is now another Angel watching over and protecting us.  Marion’s Angel wings are most definitely “to the nines” and radiant!

Marion’s life will be celebrated at a memorial gathering on Saturday, April 14, 2018 8:30 am-10:30 am at Norman Dean Funeral Home, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ.  A time of remembrance will begin at 9:30 am.  A Mass of Christian Celebration will follow and be held at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 10 North Pocono Road, Mountain Lakes, NJ. Donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the loving and healing work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Be The Match Foundation or The Valerie Fund by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
