Robin, Scott, and Penny, I am so sorry for your loss. Howard was a superb man in so many ways. I was always happy when he showed up on a construction site or at my father's office -- and that wasn't true of all of my father's friends. Howard was never a person to be afraid of. He gave me a job one summer on a road crew -- possibly at my father's suggestion, to help teach me what real work was! It was hard! I don't think I lasted two weeks. He always had a smile for me and my siblings. He was a standout in every way. Many years ago, shortly after Betty died, there was a wedding in my family and Howard came to the church by himself. At one point I became aware that he was quietly crying in one of the back pews. To me it was an unforgettable sign of his real manhood -- that he would share his presence at this time, and not be afraid to show emotion, reminding everyone (or me, at least) that weddings and funerals were both part of the same cycle. I was thinking about Howard just a few days ago when I walked by an iron gate in NYC that said Milligan Place on top of it. Seeing his photo here brings me right back to the days when I knew him. He will be missed. Peace to all who loved him.

Charlie, Scott and Penny, (really, I called you Penny) :)
I could write a book on your dad but I won't. Howie, was like a 2nd dad to me growing up. I have so many memories to cherish with him. He was one of the sweetest men and the best neighbor. I will never forget him and the fun times we all had at your house. He was so nice to let Scott use his Caddy for our wedding day, what fun we had! Love you Howie!
Love you guys,
Donna & Ed <3
