Visitation
Obituary of Lillian M. Amato
Lillian M. Amato passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2017. She shared 82 years of love and faith with all who knew her. Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, December 11th from 12- 2 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave. Denville. A Prayer Service will begin at 1:30 pm. Donations in her memory may be made to the good work of Compassionate Care Hospice by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
Lillian was born in Brooklyn to the late Tony and Margaret Scocozzo. After her schooling she met John Amato. They soon married and began their lives as husband and wife in Brooklyn. Within a few short years, they were blessed with two daughters. Although their hearts would always be in Brooklyn, the Amato family eventually settled in Wantagh, LI where they treasured many happy years in their home. She worked at the Southeast Nassau Guidance Center for many years. She enjoyed going to the casino, cooking and baking and watching her family enjoy her meals. She loved Christmas and this time of year, and could likely recite the script of every Hallmark movie by memory.
She was a devoted wife, strong Mother and adored Grandmother. Most recently, she was promoted to Great Grandma and she loved having all of the kids around. Her meatballs were and always will be famous, but above everything she shared with us, her love was the best. This family matriarch surely will be missed, but her love, lessons and traditions will live on.
She leaves happy memories to her husband John of 61 years; her daughters Gina Amato and Lisa Amato (Jody Holden); her grandchildren Christina Batiz (Gabriel), Alicia Esposito (Michael), and Nicholas and Christopher Roberts; her great grandsons Derek and Nolan Batiz, and another great grandson on the way; her sister Rose Scocozzo; brothers Anthony and Joseph; and many more dear relatives and friends. Her brothers John and Michael and her dear nephew Johnny passed previously.
