Visitation
Obituary of Muriel Gertrude Hopler
Muriel Hopler (nee Vanderhoof), passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 17, 2017. She shared 93 years of love with all who knew her. Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. In lieu of flowers during this season of Thanksgiving, donations to the Denville Food Pantry are much appreciated in Muriel’s memory.
Muriel was born in Denville in 1924 and has been a resident ever since. After High School she attendedBerkeley College. She worked for the town of Dover and later with the Denville Twp. DPW. She and her husband raised their son Wayne and had a beautiful life together. Muriel always enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and hot air balloon shows. She had quite the collection of cardinals that would take up residence in her yard, and she loved having them there. She was a longtime member of the Denville Seniors, taking part in new friendships and activities. Above all, Muriel loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a hands on Gram and was fortunate to be able to help as the kids grew and take part in their activities. The family’s Matriarch will surely be missed.
Predeceased by her husband Arthur; her son Wayne and her granddaughter Melanie; she leaves happy memories to her grandsons Daniel, Eric (Leeann), Sean, and Kevin Hopler; granddaughter Caitlin Hopler (Victor Garcia); great-granddaughter Ava, great-grandson Eric Jr., daughter in law Rosetta Hopler; brother Lowell Vanderhoof; and many more dear relatives, caretakers and friends.
