Obituary of Paula Therese Markert

Paula T. Markert (York)  passed away surrounded by her loving family at her home in Morris Plains, NJ on November 10, 2017, at the young age of 66.

Born in Hazleton, PA, she had lived in Morris Plains since 1996, and had lived in various places all around the world prior.

Paula received her Bachelor’s degree in music education from Syracuse University, her M.B.A. in marketing from South Illinois State University at Edwardsville and her second Master’s degree in organizational change from St. Elizabeth’s College.

She worked as senior regulatory manager at GlaxoSmithKline in Warren, and Parsippany, NJ for many years, but her true passion was helping other people. Paula served as trustee for the Denville Community Church and as co-president for the United Methodist Women.  She volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America on 3 different continents, was a well-respected trainer for the boy scouts leaders, and a merit badge councilor for the Boy Scout youths.  Her latest venture was serving in various leadership capacities for District 83, Toast Masters International.  She poured heart and soul into all she did.

Paula is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, William Markert of Morris Plains, NJ.  She is also survived by her loving sons William F. Jr. and his wife Shira Markert of Manhattan, NY, Phillip R. and his wife Ilyssa Markert of Brooklyn, NY, her grandchildren Anna Veronica Markert and Hunter Riley Keller. Her siblings Jeffrey York of Harrisonburg, VA, James York of Brandon, FL, Pamela Aten of Roaring Brook, PA, Laura Vajda of Nicaragua, Beth Mitchell of Riverview, FL and many nieces & nephews also survive her.

Funeral services will be held on Friday November 17, 2017, at 11AM at the Denville United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9PM and on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834.
