To the D'Orazio Family,
Anthony was such a great cousin. Every time he came to visit when our children were young, he was also a great uncle. We will miss him greatly.
"We live in the physical world but we know this is not the only world that exists, there is also the spirit world. This spirit world is a definite reality, we also know that these two worlds are not meant to be disconnected from each other. They should be linked together as one single world. We human beings were born from the spirit world, and eventually will return to that world. There is an interesting idiom in reference to death: When somebody says he has returned, what does return mean? It is not to a cemetery, we mean that we have returned to the point of life's origin, we return across the vast expanses of history, we shed our nationality, we return to the world that brought forth our human ancestors and we return to the world of the creator. This is where we originated and this is where we return." - SMM, Understanding Life and Death, December 19, 1998 Washington DC

An Unforgettable Cousin I wish to share a few thoughts about Anthony D'Orazio. Anthony was a cousin to John and Vincent D'Orazio. There are a lot of factors that influence why one set of cousins in a family is drawn to another. Suffice it to say--we were very close. Anthony was a role model to us-- the first male cousin in our circle to experience many things in the process of assimilating into American culture. Our world during these early years was Brooklyn--period. Looking back at that time, it was a time of paradox--we had so much in many ways and less so in other ways. Anthony will always be remembered for his quick wit and good nature. He was always fun to be around and caring. Anthony was also a loving nephew to my parents and a favorite of theirs. In our later years, when John succumbed to a 13 year battle with a chronic illness, Anthony during that time was the most compassionate and selfless individual that I think I will ever know. He never forgot John and would routinely visit him in the hospital, even battling blizzards and torrential downpours to do so. What stands out about Anthony during this time was that as a young man in his early twenties, there were so many outlets and pursuits that could have occupied his time. Yet with all the noise, distractions, and coming of age moments, He never forget John. I can still hear their conversations on current events, life, politics and philosophy. I have no doubt that John and Anthony are catching up on a lot of things right now. Rest In Peace our Unforgettable Cousin-- and the word never felt more inadequate than it does now for he was really a brother to us.
