Obituary of James D O'Connor

"James (Jimmy) O'Connor died on Thursday, January 19, 2017, losing the battle of fighting cancer. He was born in Jersey City, raised in Bayonne, and the family moved to Denville, NJ in the 1950's. He has been a resident of Landing and Lake Hopatcong for over 40 years. Jimmy earned his bachelors degree from Seton Hall in 1963. He worked for years in Human Resources, most notably working for E. J. Korvette's in NYC. In his "retirement " Jimmy had a courier service that he diligently continued to work at for years serving the printing and manufacturing industry. Jimmy served in the Army for 2 years, he studying to be a helicopter pilot. As a veteran, he was very patriotic. Jimmy enjoyed his privacy, spending much of his time on home improvements and tinkering with his cars. He had several mustangs including 2 vintage Mach I's he was always working on. Once you managed to "pry him out of his shell" he was a caring Uncle, brother and brother in law. He was always part of family gatherings and will be missed. His favorite was always shrimp cocktail at the holidays! Jimmy was predeased by his father and brother, Ward O'Connor Sr. and Ward O'Connor Jr. He is survived by his siblings John O'Connor, Brian O'Connor, Bradley O'Connor, and Lynn O'Connor and several nieces and nephews.
