Joyce,
I just found out about K.C. and my heart reeled against this news. I don't want to believe it. My mind immediately went to the first time I met K.C., when he was just 5 years old. His big blue eyes and those cute freckles across his adorable face. He always had a cheerful expression, and he made such funny comments that left us laughing at his childlike wonder.
I remember his father doting on him as he taught him how to fish.
One time K.C.said to me, No, Anne, fishing is not a hobby for me, it's an obsession.
I was always appreciative of the times K.C. babysat my kids. He was so good and patient with them, playing with Matchbox cars, sandbox, and more.
The warm spot he has always occupied in my heart will always remain the same.
He made a difference.
I pray you find comfort knowing he made the most of his life. Please know that I will pray for you to find inner peace.
Love, Anne

This empty space isn't enough room to try to write something that could possibly equate to the empty space remaining in each of us after KC's passing. Confidante, mentor, fishing pal, gleeful yanker of chains and beloved pusher of peoples' buttons! All done in the best traditions of Grandpa and, of course, with love and the best of intentions. I hope that he has taken with him his memories, his sense of humor, and his compass, so that one day he can find his way back to us when we cross to the other side. Much love,
Erik

Ken was very much a mentor to our young and growing staff. He would always provide guidance and advice to help our new hires. Navigating our technical repository of information along with informing them of who is who in the company.
Ken would mention to me personally that he would advise the newbies to always listen, learn but most important I said (or suggested) to execute an activity that it would be best to do so without due haste because I was most likely right about the task ahead. I suppose he took that from his own experience having worked directly and indirectly for me. Fortunate for me I rarely had to provide that direct conversation as Ken and the rest of his department were just fine without my involvement and I'm not so sure I was always right. Ken was part of a great team and it is because of Ken being part of that team which made it great.
Ken was not only a mentor but also a true task master. Ken was a soul and salt of the earth. We could always rely on Ken something needed to get done. He was approachable and always made himself part of the solution and applied himself to achieve goal.
It is nice when a subordinate always had your back during tough times, and yes; Ken always had mine. He would inform me of the strangest of anomalies. A visit by Ken to my office always meant a need for me know something. My door was rarely closed and Ken knew it.
Ken remained upbeat in the office although we all knew he was fighting for his life. I’m not sure I could talk about the visits to medical centers and doctors as candidly as Ken did knowing he was taking steps to prolong his time with all of us. One could say he had made a sacrifice to provide us with his good graces longer than his body would allow. He presented himself in a humble manner but all of us knew that we were in the presence of a true fighter.
This past year I decided to visit the Lakota Wolf Preserve with my wife Nancy and see what the place was all about. It was one of Ken’s personal work area motifs which had numerous immersions of outdoor wilderness. When I left the preserve it made me realize that the wolf is very much a sprit animal. The power of the wolf brings forth instinct and intelligence. That is something the wolf and Ken have in common. I am glad I was able to report back to Ken of my first time experience visiting the preserve and learning from his friends, Jim and Becky talk about their common passion.
Hearing of Ken’s passing that Monday morning was as much a shock to me as most everyone else. We all knew his rollercoaster ride was crawling back upward and hope was brightening his day. The news brought out sullen emotions of sadness and a void. We were his second family and needless to say, everyone I mean everyone shocked and saddened.
We lost a pillar, a cornerstone of our living culture that day.
We would all be best to act in the kind and astute way Ken did. To say Ken will be missed is an understatement to the continuity, kindness and friendship he brought with him the office every day. Let us never forget the legacy Ken left behind for us.

I met KC many many moons ago, and I am certain if I could pick a little brother--he would be it! He was fun and funny, sensitive and caring, dedicated and altruistic. A gentle soul.
He has passed away too young and all who knew him will never forget his wonderful smile and energy. I wish his family and friends peace in the wonderful memories he has given us.

To Kens family:
I have known Ken for the 10 years that I have been here at Crestron. I had the distinct pleasure of seeing him just about every day that for that period of time. I always looked forward to speaking with him. Aside from the professional interaction, more importantly was the fact that Ken was just a genuinely nice person. The type of person you don't meet often in this world. He had a positive affect on everyone around him, and I would estimate well over 600 people knew him well here at Crestron. He was part of our family too. He will be sorely missed. My true condolences to you all.
