I am an honorary member of the Nutley Old Guard and met Armando at our favorite hangout, the bowling alley in Belleville called Brunswick Zone. It was Armando who invited the ladies to attend the Old Guard meetings on the first Friday of every month. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. I never saw Armando without a big smile on his face. A group of us met every Saturday night at one of our favorite restaurants to enjoy a dinner out. We ate, drank wine, shared many stories and laughed the whole night long. I remember Armando saying on his last birthday that he expected to live to be 100 years old. Instead, God chose to bring him to his new home where he will live and be free of pain and suffering. I know I will one day be with Armando once again. He was very special and will never be forgotten by all of us who were fortunate enough to have loved, lived and laughed with him. So long, Armando, til we meet again. I will always love and remember you. Love, Ann

Uncle Armando,
We were so sad to hear of your passing, but you certainly were a gentle and kind man to be remembered by those who knew you. You were my "bus buddy." Back in the early '80's we both worked in NYC and yes, you saved me a seat almost daily on the De Camp Bus Line. Anyone that commutes into the rat race of NYC knows this is a brave and gigantic feat! No one challenged your choice of saving me a seat and learned to just walk by the coveted, empty seat. I also remember walking down 40th Street to Fifth Avenue and you turning toward your office and sometimes I'd find you at night waiting on that same corner for me. This was our special friendship that carried over to conversations catching up along with one slow dance at family weddings. RIP Uncle Armando - you were a gentle and kind gentleman.

Grandpa, you filled my heart with so much joy every day. You taught me how to savor every moment of life and be grateful, even through adversity and heartache. You taught me the importance of family and friendship. You taught me to enjoy life...to have a glass of wine with dinner, to sit and talk over a cup of coffee until late at night, and that sometimes you just need to eat ice cream right out of the carton (especially if it's Friendly's Forbidden Chocolate ice cream). I watched you stay the eternal optimist even when life threw every obstacle your way. I will always cherish the four years that we shared the same roof. I would come home and fill you in on the stress and experiences of going to graduate school while working full time. And you would smile and say "just keep working, little doll. You'll get there." Well today I got that diploma in the mail, and I hope I made you proud. I cannot thank you enough for your support, your love, your friendship, and your incredible sense of humor. You always gave me your honest opinion, even when I didn't want to hear it. But I needed to hear it, and I needed to hear it from you. And for that I am eternally grateful. The world lost a truly great man, and I feel like my heart is missing a piece. I know that now you are smiling down on all of us with Grandma, Aunt Mary, and mommy.

What can I saw about Uncle Armando...he was a figure in my life that I loved, admired, respected and adored. I remember as a child playing at his house with Netta, Rene and Mary. We all grew up together and our families ties were very strong. The weekends that I slept over their house in Nutley my Aunt Camille would show my how to properly cut my pancakes ( which I have passed down to my kids). I always pictured Uncle Armando with khaki pants, his belt and button down shirt and his Rutgers ring which is embedded in my mind. I also remember his special pen he used to use...and who could forget his dark green cars (Impala) that he eventually switched to burgundy...well it seems another chapter has closed in my heart...Rest in Peace Uncle Armando and tell Aunt Camille, Rene and Mary that I will never stop loving all of you...
