Obituary of Thomas F. Pye

Thomas F. Pye, Sr. passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 28th. He was 85. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 10 am at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 10 N. Pocono Road, Mountain Lakes, NJ. Entombement to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd from 4-8 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. Born in New York, to the late Terrance and Florence Pye, Tom was one of two children. He proudly served his country with the USMC as a Staff Sergeant throughout the Korean Conflict. He fought in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, and was part of the Choisin Few Troop who took part in this decisive battle during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge; he married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Hrastovich and the couple settled in Mahopac, NY. He worked as a controller for many years with BASF, retiring in 1995. Tom was a proud marine and loved this country. He was an avid gardener, loved the beach, especially traveling to the outer banks with his loving partner, Ann. His happiest times were cracking open a cold Coors Light and cheering on his beloved NY Giants; and spending time with his family. He was also a proud member of the VFW and American Legion Organizations. Predeceased by his wife Barbara (1996); he leaves happy memories to his longtime companion Ann Link; children Susan Farkas , Elizabeth Pye-Gerstein (her beloved late husband Neal) Thomas Jr. (his wife Nancy) Barbara Cioffi (her husband Robert) and cherished nephew and fellow Giants fan, Bobby Kelly (his wife Diane); adored grandchildren Justin, Kirsten, Jarrett, Matthew, Zachary, Victoria and Jennifer; dear sister Dorothy Carney; cherished confidant and physician Dr. Kevin Bell; and many dear friends throughout Blairstown, East Stroudsburg, Warren, the Bronx, and the Outer Banks.
