Obituary of Walter P. Dean
Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Walter Pierson Dean, Jr. passed away peacefully Friday in Hackettstown NJ. He was 92.
Born in Hazlet, NJ, Mr. Dean was decorated for his service in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 in the campaign to liberate the Philippines. Upon returning, he earned a degree in Chemistry from Philadelphia Textile Institute and raised his family in Montville, NJ. He was employed as plant manager for S. B. Penick & Co. until his retirement in 1979 and relocated to Mt. Bethel, Pa.
He is survived by his loving wife for 68 years, Jean Elizabeth (née Van Duren), daughter Janis and her husband John Amodeo, sons Walter (Scott) and Don, two granddaughters, Jenna and Elizabeth Amodeo, and four nieces, Adele, Susan, Sharon and Kathy.
Mr. Dean was proud of his patriotic service and it was his wish to have a private military funeral with his family and be buried among his fellow veterans in Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.
