Ruth, I am so saddened and shocked to have just heard about Jim's sudden passing.
I first met Jim a few years back at Macy's where he and I had a grand conversation about Jim's love of clowning. Soon after, "Happy Lappy" the clown and Ruth volunteered a couple of times for Macy's annual charity event where the kids adored him and the balloon animals he made. Jim was always so kind and friendly and stopped by the Estee Lauder counter to see me every time he and Ruth came to Macy's. He made me a bouquet of balloon flowers for my birthday once...just such a sweet, kind man who will truly be missed. "Marvelous" is a word Jim liked to use...and he was just that...marvelous! Thank you for such fond memories, my friend.
Ruth, I am so sorry for you...please come see me anytime.

My heart is with you at this time of loss. Jim was a wonderful neighbor who I knew for over 30 years. He was always welcoming, friendly and caring. I am glad that I got to see on Sunday. All he wanted was a big hug - so Jim like. May you find peace and comfort in your faith in God and the love of family and friends.

To Ruth and Family,
So sorry to hear about Jim, please accept our condolences. We will keep Jim's family in our prayers and thoughts, especially over the next few days. As members of the Church of the Saviour's congregation we saw him in church on Sudays and he always had a big smile for my daughter. He made her a small dog out of some beads on a string and her whole face lit up. We will always remember your kindness, especially towards the children.

Dear Ruth and Family, We have lost a very dear friend and neighbor. Jim was always very kind helpful and generous. Generous with his smile his warmth and sense of humor he will be greatly missed. We shared many happy summer evenings with Jim when we were his next door neighbors on Lenape Island. When I spoke with Jim last week his main concern was for Ruth's welfare. We have many happy memories of Jim. He will remain in our thoughts and prayers always. Our deepest condolences to Ruth and all those who loved Jim. Sincerely, Craig and Brenda Barkhausen

Ted,
Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father.
In the course of a career in the Navy, a person develops notable personal relationships with some very special people. My relations with Jim were of that nature. I was the Operations Officer on USS Henry B Wilson, while Jim was the Chief Electronics Technician assigned. The equipment under his purview consistently performed at an outstanding level. His innovating maintenance routines produced results with installed equipment that could not be matched by any other ship. It was during discussions of his ideas that we developed a close relationship. Fifteen or so years later, Jim contacted me, and we got together a few times again to tell sea stories, and exchange e-mail of interest. Our infrequent meetings were always enjoyable.
!
He was a great friend, with an indomitable spirit.

I was married to James in Sydney, Australia on 1965 but had to leave him in 1984 but I will not let you know why. However, I met up with him last year and we enjoyed being together.
I was coming back to see him again but now I am sad that he has left this world.
I have told many of my friends in Sydney what has happened to Jim because many of them remember him and entered our marriage.
To Jim my love and to God who will take good care of you.
Julia Lessanutti
Lessanutti is my family name but when I was with Jim I took the name of Lappegaard.

Dear Ruth and family,
I will always remember Jim for his warm smile, ready laugh, and genuine interest in everyone. My daughter Emily and I joined him in dressing up as clowns for the Church of the Saviour's float one year in the Denville Thanksgiving Day Parade. He made a perfect clown! May God's peace be with Jim and with you.
