Obituary of Lorraine Barnes
Please share a memory of Lorraine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lorraine M. Barnes, 71, died March 26, 2015 in New York City after a short illness. Born in Morristown, Lorraine was raised and spent all of her life in the Denville area. She had recently relocated to Ocean, NJ. She was a 1961 graduate of Morris Hills High School, and worked for 44 years as an administrative assistant at Allied Chemical and General Chemical. Lorraine was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She and her mother could frequently be seen out and about at local events and restaurants. She loved the Jersey shore, cooking, entertaining, the Yankees, and her cat, Molly. But nothing made her eyes sparkle more than the company of her nephew, nieces, and their children. She will be sorely missed by all of them, but will live on in their hearts forever. Lorraine was predeceased by her father, Arthur A. Barnes. She is survived by her mother, Lorraine A. Barnes, Ocean NJ, her brothers Art (Kathy), Old Bridge, Robert (Beverly), Denville, and Rick, Memphis TN. Her nieces and nephew Jeanne McCarthy, Cindy Fagan, Debra O'Brien, Sharon Filler, and Jeffrey Barnes, as well as their spouses and 16 grand nieces and grand nephews. Her aunt, Mildred Zoller, Wharton, as well as many loved cousins and lifelong friends also survive her. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral. A celebration of her life is planned for a later date, when attendees can dress in their bright warm weather colors and share their memories. Details of that celebration will be shared as soon as they are available.
