This is for the family. It begins when we were children: brothers and sister. But more especially, this is for, and to, Gary’s nieces and nephews. Gary’s is the first death in our family, in our generation. This is new and unanticipated for us and for our children. We share new feelings and new grief for which we are unprepared. So, this is for the family: our generation and yours. ..
A mischievous twinkle in his eye and a full-faced, dimpled grin signaled that Gary’s mind was on the prowl for the next prank or practical joke or the sheer pleasure of his next adventure and we were always all invited to come along to share in his joy of experiencing whatever was around the next bend. And the fun was always shared with his fellow adventurers, never at their expense. We all share the sense of being enriched simply by having been in his presence.
It’s incomprehensible that he is gone. Of all the pictures of our young family – first there were eleven, then there were seven, then for the last several years – there were we five. Take a picture of the five of us. Assume the position. Line up in sibling order. Now the space after Chris and Kathy, that is, the space between Kathy and Bruce, is vacant, replaced by the aching sense of loss we each feel at his passing. If we ever have any more pictures taken of us, we will need to leave that space open for Gary. I refuse to accept that he’s not there to fill it. It’s incomprehensible that he is gone.
But as the next generation of our family has progressed from children to adulthood, the family photographs have broadened and Uncle Gary or “Unc” has taken his place of respect among his nieces and nephews and his adopted nieces and nephews. For them he has been a friend, an uncle, a father, and a brother. The point is that Gary was and is the flux that welds the generations of our family together. We share your grief and pain at losing Uncle Gary and we will be there for you, to help fill a little of the large space his passing has created for you.
Company picnics, Yankee games, motorcycle conclaves, trips to New York State – Would you like to come along with Nany and me? You are welcome, of course. Let’s share the journey and build some more memories with Gar or Gary or Gray or Unc. And even though we didn’t share all of the same times and places with him, we did share his enthusiasm for life and here, today, we are bound together by our shared love for him.
And the twinkle, and the dimple, and the grin will remain with us forever as the face of his beloved memory. God bless you, Gary.

Gary and I reconnected about 2 years ago through Classmates. We caught up on old times in NJ via email. I will never forget the night we went sleigh riding behind St. Clairs Hospital. We were having races and flipped. Gary landed on my shoulder. I didn't want to say anything about pain - so I waited to the next day to find out I fractured my colar bone after a visit to St. Clairs. Good times. I will miss him. Rest in peace dear friend. Say hello to Anna for me.

Gary was such a sweetheart in the high school years. I went to school with him Freshman year, but we were the bunch that lived in Whippany and were sent to Hanover Park HS until Whippany Park was built. Gary was such a great friend and like a brother. I was so excited to hook up on Facebook with Gary after so many years and was glad to catch up. You will be missed by many....bless you, Nancy and all your family members.

To me, the thing that really stood about Gary was the way he always made you (no matter who "you" was) feel like you were the most important person in the world when you were with him. Few people have that gift and he surely used it well. It was an honor to have known him.
So Cuz, on behalf of my Chris, Ashley and Merci, keep the Shiny Side Up and the Rubber Side Down as you now can ride to your heart's delight. Bye for now, Cuz. Love, Glenn Davis and family.

I will always remember, and be grateful for what Uncle Gary did for my brother, Joe, in a time of need. He was always among the first to rush in to help in a crisis. He loved his family, his friends, his animals, his motorcycles, his music, and his country. We will always love and remember him.

Even though I graduated in 1969 from Morris Hills, I didn't know Gary there. I became friends with him when he joined Tri County Motorcycle Club. He was always fun loving and had the greatest smile which by recent pictures I can see that smile stayed with him. He will be missed by many. My prayers are with his family.

Gary was my motorcycle buddy, even after I was living with my husband. When we moved to GA I kept trying to find him, and when I finally did, there he was, living very close to me! That was a happy day. Today I was in Gainesville and it hit me...I can't just call Gary and go to lunch...anymore. a very sad thought. I will miss him.

Gary was such a nice kid. I remember him from when he was in the church youth group when my father was minister at the Methodist Church in Rockaway. After reconnecting with Gary, just a year or so ago, on Facebook, I had hoped to see him again. I had no idea he was even sick until the other day so this was quite a shock to me. I feel so blessed to have reconnected, even if just for a short while. He still had the kind face, warm eyes and smile, even after all these years. I will always remember Gary fondly. Such a nice person. My prayers go out to the family. I look forward to the day we will all be with Gary once again. With thoughts and prayers, Bonnie Geyer Florek
