Rev. William J. Freeswick, "Father Bill", 66, entered into eternal life on Saturday September 12, 2009 at Saint Clare's Hospital at Denville, NJ.
Father Bill was born in Passaic, NJ and was resident of Clifton, NJ. He was a parishioner of St. Paul's Church and was a graduate of Pope Pius XII High School. Father Bill received his Bachelor Degree at Seton Hall University in 1965 and was ordained on May 31, 1969 from Immaculate Conception Seminary, at St John's Cathedral in Paterson. Father Bill was a Parochial Vicar at St. Peter the Apostle, Parsippany, St. Margaret Church, Morristown, St. Catherine of Siena, Mountain Lakes, Morris Catholic High School, Denville, Pope Pius High School, Passaic, Pope Paul VI High School, Clifton, Neumann Prep, Wayne. In 1979 he went to Ojai, California, to teach with the Augustinian Order. In 1980 returned to St. Peter the Apostle, Parsippany, and was assigned to Mt Carmel in Boonton. He was a charter member of the Hospice Care Committee at Riverside Hospital in Boonton.
Father Bill, for the past 26 years, was the Chaplain for the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, Saint Clare's Hospital and the St. Francis Residential Community, all in Denville.
Father Bill was predeceased by his parents Jacob V. and Jianne E. Freeswick.
Father Bill is survived by his cousin's.
Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday, September 16th from 2:00pm to 6:00pm and Thursday September 17th from 10:00am to 11:30am at the St. Francis Chapel, Denville, NJ. Bishop Arthur J. Serratelli will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday September 17th at 12:00pm. Donations to the St. Francis Residential Community, 122 Diamond Spring Road, Denville, NJ 07834 would be appreciated.
