Robert J. Leonard passed away on September 4, 2009 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ.
He was 78 years old.
Born and raised in The Bronx, NY he had lived in Long Island for many years before moving to Denville, NJ in 1987.
Bob had served in the US Navy during the Korean War in the early 1950's and then graduated from Queens College with a degree in Accounting in 1958. He then worked as an Accountant for many years before retiring in 1986.
He was an active member and past president of the Denville Senior's, he volunteered at the Joey Bella Benefit for 5 years, and served as an Acolyte, Lector, and the Nocturnal Adoration at St. Mary's Church in Denville for many years.
He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret (Jones) Leonard with whom he was married to for 28 years in 1982.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years, Rosemary (Delo) Leonard of Denville and his loving children Robert Jr. of VA, Barbara Constance of Parker, CO, Kathleen Pieper of Burke, VA, Kenneth of Oceanside, NY, Diane Beck of Bedminster, NJ, Patricia Singer of Manchester, NH, and Michael Leonard of Carlsbad, CA. He is also survived by his brother Lawrence Leonard Jr. of Longs, SC and 4 loving step children and their spouses and 21 grandchildren.
Funeral from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ on Wednesday September 9, at 9AM for a Liturgy of Christian Burial Mass at St. Mary's Church in Denville at 10AM. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers donations will be made available at the funeral home towards the Denville Historical Society for a bench in his memory.
