Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 2nd at 2:00pm at the Green Pond Yacht Club, Green Pond, NJ. Born in West Chester County, NY on June 17, 1918, Martha was the daughter of the late Otto and Janie Riegelman. Her loving husband of 49 years, William R. Polye, her daughter Janie, and her sister Janet predeceased her. In her youth, Martha won numerous diving championships. Summering in Green Pond Martha and William resided in River Edge for 37 years. Martha was very involved in the River Edge Woman’s Drama Club and performed monologs through out her adult life. She was an avid sailor who won many championships and continued well into her late 70’s Upon her marriage in 1993 to her second husband, the late Edgar Van Winkle, she resided in Rutherford, NJ, Fort Meyers Beach, FL, and continued to summer in Green Pond. Martha is survived by her two sons, William and his wife Rosa Polye, Laurence and his wife Lynelle Polye, her six grandchildren, Martha William Ronald, Michael, Robert, Donald, and Pieter.
