Louis George Daddea “Poppy” passed away on May 27, 2013.
Born in Hoboken, NJ in 1938, he has often gone back to visit his favorite restaurant Leo’s.
He married his late wife, Adele, in 1968. They raised their four children in the Indian Lake community of Denville where he has lived since 1972.
Lou served in the U.S. Army for 2 years in the 1950’s where he served in the Military Police.
He worked as an Agent-Operator for the Erie Lackawanna Railway (and successors Conrail and NJ TRANSIT) for 40 years, ending his career as the Ticket Agent at the Dover Station in 2002.
Lou was a former captain and active member of the Denville Police Reserve Auxiliary. He was an active member and past president of the Denville Senior Citizens where he enjoyed the many trips and activities, especially bingo. His greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren play sports and he was their biggest fan. He was a coach in the Denville Little League for many years. Lou enjoyed attending many community events and fundraisers.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Adele in 1998 and his parents Benedict and Letitia.
Lou is survived by his children Terry Chevalaz, Debbie Wisneski and her husband Rich, Lou Daddea and his wife Heather, and Anne Marie Pikor and her husband Jeff. He is also survived by his sister June Daddea and his sister in law Jo Byrne, wife of the late Richard Byrne Sr. His 10 precious grandchildren Andrew, Emily, and Claire Wisneski, Kayla and Daniel Chevalaz, Ava and Bobby Daddea, and Benjamin, Luke and Rebecca Pikor will miss their Poppy dearly. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends including his dear friend Anne Rahner.
For the last several years, he never let his declining health keep him from doing the things he loved. He will be most remembered for his incredible sense of humor.
Funeral services will begin at 9AM on Friday May 31, 2013 at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 and then going to St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mt. Lakes for a 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-4 & 7-9PM.
